For those of you who were able to be there, I think you will agree with me. &nbsp;For those who couldn t make it, we wish you could have been there. &nbsp;You were missed. &nbsp;We look forward to being with you at our 50<sup>th</sup> Reunion in 2016.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p> <p class="MsoNormal">The weekend started off Friday night with a reception and by the time I got there I could hear and feel the excitement in the room from way down the hall. &nbsp;As the evening went on, the excitement and sense of awe was clearly a thing to behold. &nbsp;At one point, I just stood back and watched the interaction and joy that was being experienced by us all. &nbsp;Mr. Quayle, one of our former teachers, joined us and appeared to enjoy the activities.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p> <p class="MsoNormal">As you probably know, our classmate, Joseph Swenarton, painted a landscape in Crimson and Gold which had a prominent place in the room on Friday for all to see and to ponder how many raffle tickets each person wanted to buy for the next evenings raffle. &nbsp;If you haven t seen Joseph s painting, find a way to view it in color. &nbsp;It is a master piece created by one of our own. &nbsp;The proceeds of the Raffle were dedicated to the WHS Educational Foundation created by OUR Class to promote programs at Wheaton for students and the Staff.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p> <p class="MsoNormal">On Saturday morning, with the present Principal, Kevin Lowndes, leading the way, we held a tour of Wheaton. &nbsp;As we checked out OUR Senior Class panoramic picture on the bleachers, the old classrooms, lockers, cafeteria and Gym, (which are basically unchanged), I think the most amazing thing we all felt is the commitment of Kevin to the school and his students. &nbsp;We lingered to talk as we toured and he had statistics and information at his fingertips. &nbsp;We all were in awe of his commitment and knowledge. &nbsp;The tour lasted over an hour. &nbsp;On a sad note, this will be our class last chance to tour OUR Wheaton as the school is going to be torn down and rebuilt on the same ground but in a totally new configuration.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p> <p class="MsoNormal">The big event was the dinner and dancing at Argyle Country Club for sure. &nbsp;To try to convey the magic is too much for this poor soul to do. &nbsp;It was great to see classmates we hadn t seen for years. &nbsp;Kevin Lowndes again gave of his time to come and provide a state of Wheaton High School overview and showed a short video of the present Senior Class. &nbsp;The excitement that these students exuded got us off to a great start. &nbsp;Again Kevin s strong support for WHS was apparent. &nbsp;I would also point out that one of our other teachers, Mr. Klugel, also attended at our invitation, which was very gracious of him.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p> <p class="MsoNormal">For me, the highlight was the raffle. We even had a drum roll. &nbsp;Since Joseph was the artist, we had him pick the winning ticket. &nbsp;The winner was Diane (Thompson) Lee s sister, Laurie Sheehan. &nbsp;It got way better at this point. &nbsp;Diane s sister really wanted to keep the painting (and who wouldn t) but she felt that a WHS classmate should get the painting, so she immediately put the painting back up for auction to raise even MORE money for the Foundation. &nbsp;The auction was exciting for sure. Our classmate Don Dennison trumped us all with a bid of an additional $1,000. &nbsp;WOW - how cool is that? &nbsp;It was great fun. &nbsp;I want to thank Joseph for the beautiful painting he donated, Diane Lee s sister Laurie, and of course Don and his wife for their very generous bid. &nbsp;I know that Don s wife VERY much wanted the painting and they now can share its beauty in their home for the years to come.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p> <p class="MsoNormal">While I will not try to name all of the people who made this a great weekend possible, you who attended know who they are. &nbsp;A BIG shout out to all of them.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Five years seems like a long time away but please plan on being here in five years if you can. &nbsp;I don t know if we can top this one, but we will sure try.</p> <p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Fred Kraegel</p> <p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p> <hr/><p class="MsoNormal"> <br/>Just in...photos from the <a href="/Photos/Sep11Reunion/pics.html">45th</a> reunion!&nbsp;
